The PR Challenge

AeroProfessional, an aviation HR, recruitment and resourcing consultancy, wanted to bolster its reputation in the industry as a leading provider of people solutions. Within this was a specific aim to generate quality traffic to their website via placement of relevant editorial content on leading aviation and HR news sites. However most publications don’t provide link backs to external websites within their editorial. Also, the aviation publications tend to focus on airlines, and engineering rather than services, so getting media cut-through would be challenging.

The HK Communications Solution

HK Communications was engaged to provide PR services for AeroProfessional, which involved generating quality coverage in relevant publications. This was to be done through a combination of standalone activity, as well as producing PR around the publication of white papers on industry issues.

To ensure targeted, tailored and detailed coverage, HK Communications looked for bespoke opportunities which went beyond standard press releases. This included thought leadership pieces in top publications, and expert commentary and advisory articles. This helped further cement AeroProfessional as an aviation people expert. HK Communications also produced exclusive angles on the white paper, tailored to the needs of the diverse publications which ranged from aviation, HR, recruitment and business.

The PR Results

In the space of a few months, AeroProfessional has received prominent coverage in publications such as Airline Business, HR Review, Insider and Pilot Careers News. The bespoke approach has worked well, with quality linkbacks from top publications.

Also, PR has helped the white papers, with the latest paper being downloaded over 100 times by AeroProfessional’s targeted audience, with one such publication’s coverage of the white paper’s story reaching 14,000 people from the aviation industry.

The PR Challenge

The International Sign Alliance (TISA), engaged HK Communications to promote its launch. A joint venture between two leading branding and signage firms in the UK and US, TISA wanted to cement its position amongst its target audience as the go-to provider of bespoke collaborative branding solutions that can be implemented on a global scale.

However, beyond the collaboration, TISA did not have any major ‘headlines’ or news hooks to run with the story.

The HK Communications Solution

We assessed the story and devised a plan to target three core areas of the media – the business press, the trade/marketing media and the regional press for the UK arm of the partnership, Pearce Signs. We produced bespoke pitches for the different media, focussing on areas relatable to the relevant publications. Utilising existing long-held relationships with key journalists, and forging new contacts, the story quickly gathered momentum.

The PR Results

The partnership was featured in core publications such as the UKs leading regional B2B magazine The Midlands Insider, as well as Game Changers, a global magazine aimed at industry leaders. Trade coverage included Business and Industry Magazine and Sign Link, while the Nottingham Post covered the venture as their lead business story both online and in print, generating thousands of pounds worth of publicity, the value of which greatly exceeded the initial investment.

However, the success of the campaign goes beyond the online and print coverage. As a result of HK Communications’ relationship with key business journalists, the Managing Director of TISA was invited to take part in a round table discussion with industry leaders in international trade.

This has further cemented TISA’s authority as an industry expert and innovator in international branding.
